    THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA'S EAOP SERVES STUDENTS FROM UNDERREPRESENTED COMMUNITIES, ASSISTING WITH ACADEMIC PREPARATION AND COLLEGE ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS. PARTICIPANTS HAVE DEMONSTRATED IMPROVED COLLEGE ELIGIBILITY AND ENROLLMENT RATES COMPARED TO NON-PARTICIPANTS.

    A REPORT BY THE AMERICAN COLLEGE ACCESS NETWORK (ACAN) FOUND THAT STUDENTS WHO ARE EXPOSED TO COLLEGE CAMPUSES AS EARLY AS MIDDLE SCHOOL ARE MORE LIKELY TO PURSUE HIGHER EDUCATION. SPECIFICALLY, STUDENTS WHO VISIT AT LEAST ONE COLLEGE DURING THEIR MIDDLE SCHOOL YEARS ARE 24% MORE LIKELY TO ENROLL IN COLLEGE AFTER HIGH SCHOOL.
